Sustainability Policy

Gecho Agency Sustainability Policy.

Last reviewed: Spring 2026.

Gecho Agency (or Gecho) is the trading name of Connectable SW Ltd. This is the Sustainability Policy for Gecho Agency, accessible from https://www.gecho.co.uk/.

Our Commitment

Gecho Agency is committed to operating in a responsible and environmentally conscious manner. As a remote-first digital agency specialising in WordPress website design and development, we recognise that our environmental impact is significantly lower than many traditional office-based businesses. Nevertheless, we are committed to continually improving our practices and reducing our environmental footprint wherever practical.

Our sustainability approach focuses on minimising resource consumption, improving digital efficiency, and making responsible business decisions that support both our clients and the wider environment.

Remote Working

Gecho Agency operates as a fully remote business.

Working from home eliminates the need for a permanent office, reducing energy consumption associated with commercial premises while significantly reducing commuting-related emissions. Over 95% of client meetings are conducted online using video conferencing, with in-person meetings only arranged where there is a clear benefit.

Digital-First Operations

We operate a paperless business wherever possible.

Our day-to-day operations are carried out using digital documentation, electronic contracts, cloud-based collaboration and online communication. Printing is avoided except where absolutely necessary, helping to reduce paper consumption and waste.

Sustainable Website Hosting

Our managed hosting platform operates on shared infrastructure, allowing server resources to be utilised more efficiently than individual dedicated environments.

Client websites are hosted on environmentally responsible, renewable energy-powered infrastructure located within London. Hosting websites closer to their primary audience helps reduce unnecessary network travel while providing excellent performance for UK visitors.

Efficient Website Development

We believe sustainability extends beyond hosting.

Our websites are developed with performance and efficiency in mind, including:

  • Optimising page size wherever practical.
  • Reducing unnecessary scripts and assets.
  • Building fast-loading WordPress websites.
  • Encouraging efficient image optimisation.
  • Minimising unnecessary data transfer.

Smaller, faster websites require less bandwidth and server processing, reducing the energy required each time a page is viewed while also improving user experience and search engine performance.

Responsible Use of Technology

We seek to maximise the lifespan of our IT equipment by maintaining computers and laptops for a minimum of three years before replacement wherever practical.

When equipment reaches the end of its useful life, it is responsibly recycled through appropriate electronic waste recycling channels.

Travel

Business travel is kept to an absolute minimum.

The vast majority of meetings are held remotely, significantly reducing emissions associated with travel. Where travel is required, journeys are planned efficiently to minimise unnecessary environmental impact.

Responsible Procurement

Where practical, Gecho Agency works with UK-based suppliers and service providers.

As a digital agency, many software platforms and online services are provided by international organisations. Whilst environmental credentials are not currently a primary procurement criterion, we remain open to adopting more sustainable suppliers where suitable alternatives become available.

Continuous Improvement

We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing process.

Gecho Agency is committed to continually reviewing its operations and identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance. Future areas of focus include:

  • Continuing to improve website performance and page efficiency.
  • Reducing unnecessary data storage and digital waste.
  • Reviewing new technologies that reduce energy consumption.
  • Encouraging sustainable web development practices across client projects.
  • Monitoring our internal processes to identify further opportunities for improvement.

Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains appropriate to the size of the business, reflects current working practices, and supports our commitment to continual environmental improvement.
